Zip started with a wrong number. A friend of a friend called me by mistake, looking for an alternative to his moving software. He was fed up — paying more every year for a platform that had grown too complicated for his crew and clearly wasn't built for a company his size. We got to talking. I started building. He became Zip's first customer.

The more movers I met, the more I heard the same story. The big platforms all started out serving small moving companies — then they raised money, chased bigger customers, and priced and complicated their way out of the small mover's life. The 1-truck, 3-truck, 8-truck companies that are the backbone of this industry were left choosing between tools that are too much, too expensive, or too clunky for how they actually work.
